Louisiana Central University is an online university which engages in extensive research projects each year. Faculty and students are continuously working on research projects.

The university does not have a physical structure or center for research, but that does not serve as a stumbling block to engage in research projects. Faculty and students are expected to be free thinkers and to engage in independent research projects. They are also encouraged to search and seek out research projects and grant supporting projects from other research focused institutions: governmental agencies, business corporations and from Non-profit institutions interested in providing grants to support specific research projects.

LCU offers professional doctoral programs, and the Doctor of Philosophy program, which is research focused. Students enrolled in any of these programs are encouraged to work with their advisors to seek out grants for research projects.
